Nashville Songwriter Dana Marie Releases Concept Album, “SHE”

Dana Rogers (moniker for her music is Dana Marie) is a Jersey-born, queer female singer/songwriter who has been based in Nashville since 2013 after being drawn to the area by Belmont University, where she studied songwriting.

Her most recent album SHE was inspired by Dana’s real life: “The story is mostly autobiographical, and in a way was very therapeutic to write.  But honestly, SHE means more to me than just my own story…

…If I have made just one person, queer or not, feel a little bit less alone in whatever they might be going through, then the album has done its job.  I want to inspire, and share love from one human to the next.”

Dana Marie blends sounds of indie, pop and singer/songwriter to form her own unique voice and sound. Her musical influences include Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, and The Beatles. She has been writing songs for about 8 years and loves to share her passion with the world.

In an era where LGBTQIA+ rights are again being challenged in the United States, queer voices are more essential than ever. Dana says, “I think that it’s so important to continue to talk about sexuality and gender to continue to open people’s minds and hearts to others who are different than them.  A lot of people tend to think that now that same-sex marriage is legalized in the US, our struggles are over.  But for many, especially Trans* and gender non-conforming people, the journey towards equality has just begun.”
