Saba Abraha & Mikeyy Soar with their EP “How Things Fly”

If you don’t know the name Saba Abraha, today is a great day to learn something new.

Saba Abraha landed in D.C. by way of Dakar, Senegal, but was actually born in Alexandria, Virginia. She moved here when she was around seven with her family. Since then, D.C. has gotten to know her name and sound, and DC Music Download recently called Saba “one of D.C.’s most promising new acts”. When asked about the inspiration of her recent EP, Saba told DC Music Download:

“I draw inspiration from my everyday life experiences. Whether it be old friendships, being on the train, people watching; etc. To be quite frank, How Things Fly was not made with the mindset of forming an EP. It’s an assortment of records all produced by Mikeyy of 94sGold throughout the time span of two years. When I began making music with Mikeyy, I had been singing for a few months. I was not only learning about myself as a musician but the journey of finding our sound. We correlate flying with growing/blooming into the person you are meant to be, so it was only right we named our debut EP How Things Fly.”

Saba Abraha’s EP “How Things Fly” is available for streaming and purchase on all your favorite music services. Enjoy this video of Saba Abraha performing “You Are Not My Friend” off of that project with Mikeyy, her producing counterpart, at Sofar Sounds in Washington, DC.
