dani mack, the moniker of Baylee Barrett, grew up in the small town of Lubbock, Texas. At the age of eighteen, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming a musician. Her story is one you may, sadly, know well. She signed to a Grammy-nominated producer’s label but was soon met with unfulfilled promises and a loss of creative control. In a three-year period, they released one track—the rest of her work was shelved.
2022 saw Baylee finally stepping away from that deal and releasing her first new music in years. Under her new moniker, she released her first three singles, one of which was included on Bob Boilin/NPR’s “Top 40 Songs of 2022”. She also saw a huge amount of editorial support from the DSPs, including year-end nods from Spotify (Fresh Finds best 2022) and three ‘Best of 2022’ TIDAL playlists.
Her new single entitled “Nothing Better” teases her debut EP for Future Gods (due later in 2023) and is simply about her unhealthy habit of overthinking just about everything… It’s great!
