Mia LJ is a jack of all trades. Self-taught as a six instrument multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, and singer-songwriter – Mia LJ is redefining both gender roles and musical norms at large as she blazes a fierce trail ahead of her debut album THIS LIVIN, due in 2018.
Mia LJ began her musical journey at the tender age of five years old when she received her first guitar and has been writing and playing ever since. Her resume of diverse talent results in a unique sound of soul-infused indie rock with elements of R&B, indie rock, & pop that create a distinct musicality, sure to cement Mia LJ as a best new artist of 2018.
“Polaroid,” out Jan 26, is the fourth single from her upcoming album, a wavy follow-up to her latest efforts “Ambiguous” and “This Livin” – two singles, both met with critical acclaim via EARMILK, AXS, The Source, and Gems & Secrets among others.

Girl Gang Music got to do a quick Q&A with her about the release of this song:
What was the inspiration behind the content of this song?
This song was quite free flowing with no exact inspiration going in. Lyrically, I talk about the affects love has on the heart metaphorically from a perspective focused upon the affects drugs have on the brain.
What was the production process?
I pulled up to Penthouse Studios (NYC) around midnight just to chill and ended up meeting an amazing in-house producer who goes by Nine Twlv (Delanie Leyden). She had this guitar loop going. I immediately synced up with the vibe. The bass line, lyrics, guitar arrangements, and vocal melodies just poured out of me. Within the first 30 minutes of meeting Nine Twlv, we had a fully composed hit.
What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
I’ve composed & tracked all instrumentation (guitar, piano, bass, drums, vocal melodies, lyrics, etc) for every release to date in addition to producing each record.
What’s next in 2018?
TOUR. And of course, my debut album release — This Livin.
