Future-Croonette R&B Songstress, SAGE, has been writing songs as early as age nine. Now at fifteen, she’s fine-tuned her sound as an artist, growing into a melodic dark indie-pop sound, with a throwback dash of 90’s R&B vocals and a whole lot of sexy lyrics. Her newest single, “Cherries” was co-written alongside with Myah Marie Langford (Britney Spears) and produced by PJ Bianco (Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, ARIZONA).
Fun fact: she loves reading old plays. “Shakespeare is my shit. My favorite is Hamlet!”
Pulling her musical inspiration from pop legends like Michael Jackson and emo-rock royalty groups like My Chemical Romance — SAGE takes the sounds she loves which makes for the perfect mix of melodic pop music with equal parts honesty and edge.
SAGE says the inspiration behind the song for her was wanting tow rite a song subliminally about kissing, “but in a versatile way.” She continues, “I was pretty inspired by ‘I kissed a girl’ by Katy Perry when cherries was born, so I wanted to give off the same sexy but fun vibe.”
But SAGE says that she has a variety of things she’s trying to say. “I want all different types of meanings to come across (through my music) — like with “Cherries,” I wanted to convey a fun and sexy vibe. I also have another song called “June,” which is a love song coming out 2018, and I’m hoping that when people listen to it it’ll remind them of a sweet memory they have inside them or of a person they love very much!”
At fifteen, SAGE’s future is very bright, and she’s already come a long way. “I used to have nerves about singing and writing, but once I embraced by passion, I grew out of it. It pretty much all started off when I moved to California and started writing and creating music. Through the years, I’ve gone through many changes and musical-team members that have led me to where I’m at now!”
