Sofía Lafuente does more than simply write songs; she conjures complete worlds for listeners to get lost in.
Collaborating with producers and songwriters including Toby Scott (Little Mix, Girls Aloud), Liam Howe (Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs, Ellie Goulding), and Sam Klempner (Anne Marie, Paloma Faith) hers is an expansive, cinematic and emotive take on alternative-pop, and one that speaks deeply to the human condition whilst opening doors to fresh horizons.
On her acclaimed debut EP she did just that. Released in April 2021 via Audio Network, Control explored moments of tension and release, creating textures that evoked an epic, emotional energy on ‘Here Again’, and embracing the uncertainties of life on euphoric single ‘State of Flux’.
Her highly-anticipated sophomore EP, ‘Habits’, takes on the many layers of her musical industry and navigates Lafuente’s journey towards embracing her dual heritage through the bilingual nature of the collection of songs that make up the EP.
The result is an EP that reflects an artist who is willing to do the hard work and show the rich rewards that come out of it – and one who surely has plenty more stories to tell, following in the footsteps of musical heroes like Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks and Shakira. With a sync on ‘Love Island’, support from Notion, Wonderland, Line of Best Fit and various DSP playlist placements including multiple Spotify ’New Music Friday’ and ‘New Pop Revolution’ it is clearly only the beginning.
